Herons vs. the Anhingas

February 22, 2025

In a recent post, and I wrote about how the Anhingas have been monopolizing the mangroves along the fort moat in Zachary Taylor State Park. That particular spot is a favorite roost for the Great Blue Herons (white morph), Great Egrets, and Snowy Egrets.

I recently saw that the White Morphs got their spot back. Three of them, along with a juvenile White Ibis were sunning themselves along the moat. I saw the young White Ibis with the Anhingas, so I guess White Ibis can get along with anybody!
